Well, it was inevitable... after trying out options on Flickr and Facebook, we went back to the old and true of keeping the kikiBlog on the Great Wide Web.

There IS a facelift though - its now running on Wordpress, which means that the maintenance and upkeep is a lot less work. Its not as cute as this one, but I'll slowly work on that.

Had a nice lunchtime visit with some friends who drove in from Cranbrook that weekend - I was glad they had a chance to finally meet Kiki in person!

One of the girls has a similar name - Kira - and she let me know that there were at least 5 others in her class! The name's more popular than I thought!

I love coming home to Kiera - she's so happy to see me, she stands at the top of the stairs and rattles the baby gate until I can get up there to pick her up, and she can give me a hug.

We have this game we play, when I count to three - and jump while holding her. When I land, she cracks up into peals of laughter and both Ann and I just laugh along with her - its just the funniest thing!

We had a small birthday get-together on Sunday for Ewan's birthday, and once again there was plenty of food :) We finally got to meet Erwin's girlfriend, Christy (they've only been going out since July last year!), and I even managed to get a nice picture of the birthday boy and his girlfriend.

He's usually a lot harder to catch on film ;)

Ann says that it really doesn't matter that I'm not getting to all the teeth... its all about getting Kiki used to the whole toothbrushing routine. I guess that's why they make the toothpaste taste so good! Kiki really seems to enjoy it! Its just that having been chomped on once or twice by those fangs, I'm a little leery of getting my fingers too close.

The first picture is of Kiki's raincoat, which her homminy bought for her when she was only 3 months old. At that time I remember thinking, a raincoat for a two year old? But here she is, fitting very nicely into it, and looking so pretty in pink.

I keep one of my Sonos decks in an old TV stand, and its steady white indicator has often kept Kiki busy as she tries to figure out how to get to it.

Well, she finally got it.

But her technique is... unconventional. Bummer though, now I'm going to have to hide the Sonos somewhere else.

All of a sudden, Kiki wants to take over her 8oz bottle. She'll let Ann and me feed her most of the way, but then she wants to take over and finish up on her own.

This means lollygagging all around the house with her bottle in hand, with Kit anxiously following - which I have to watch out for, to make sure he doesn't lick her bottle - but in the end, she'll go back to Mommy to let her know that 'Hey! I'm done! Lookit my empty bottle!'

And that's always good for a hug :)

Victor and Van came out for the weekend and took us out for a night on the town. They treated us to dinner, took us out to the Jamie Foxx show, and even dragged us into some clubbing to finish off the night!

It was a huge night out, and we lived to tell the tale! The only part that sucked was the four hours sleep I had before picking up Kiki. Boy. That HURT.

Thanks Victor, thanks Van, for one night at least we were part of the party set :)

Kiki now loves lugging our pillow around the house and using it for a seat. Kit loves following her and sharing it with her, but she has decided that it is Her Pillow and if you try to share it with her, she gets mad at you.

I got into trouble when I dragged the pillow around the house - with her on it - and now she wants me to do it All The Time!

So I've had to stop, because Ann was going to make me wash them. So, no more pillow rides. Sorry Kiki!

Happy Valentine's Day... and Happy Chinese New Year!

Its a bit late I know, but that's the state of Kiki Nation these days. We were hit so badly by a cold bug that my parents even cancelled the big Chinese New Year celebration.

I think it really hit me this year how old I am... we're back at my birth animal on the Chinese zodiac, so I am suddenly in my late 30's. I don't even feel like I've left my 20's, let alone the big 3. Yet there's 40, peeking at me not-so-far-away. Its slightly depressing!

Put up some pictures of her and the shower cap that she put on her head, and refused to take off until she went to bed that night - it was so hilarious! She was just so proud of her accessorizing :)

We're incredibly lucky that my Mom can look after Kiki once or twice during the week - not needing to find a babysitter that we can trust is a huge weight of our shoulders, and leaving her with somebody who loves her as much Mom gives us huge comfort.

Picking her up and coming home is a big event! Lots of hugs and kisses - OK, she's a bit stingy with her kisses - but today she surprised us with a little butterfly clip in her hair - it was so cute!

We had a small party to celebrate yet another boring Superbowl game, and the halftime show - with Prince - failed to excite. Its just not the same without wardrobe malfunctions! Well, then again... Prince wearing high heels, that's almost a wardrobe malfunction isn't it?

The better entertainment was watching Kiki run around with Shereen's purse... she also made a mess with spaghetti and pesto. The rest of us had taco's and my famous Blue Dreamy martinis:

The Blue Dreamy
1 oz Smirnoff Citron
1 oz blue curacao
1 oz peach liquer
6 oz pineapple juice

Combine and shake with ice, pour into two martini glasses. Garnish with pineapple and serve.
