Oh man. Kiki! Holy $H!t!
CK, mid-flight diaper change

Came home today, and once again Kiera was good. We are so lucky that she's such a comfortable traveller. The only 'incident' was a diaper change in mid-flight, and well, lets just say that we left a lasting impression on the passengers.

Note to airlines: parents need a decent baby changing station!

So its back to Vancouver and the dreary old rain, but we'll be back soon - I'm sure Kiki's uncle, Homminy and Habaji miss her already!

Its your turn to look after her... !
Ann, at 4:30 AM

Kiera's waking up at 4:00 AM this week... it could be anything from not being in her own bed to it being too warm, or maybe its not warm enough...? A binkie usually puts her back to bed, but I hope she gets back to pattern when we go home.

Checked out OPM (pronounced Opium) last night, an Asian-inspired lounge with good appies and a great selection of "Asian" fusion drinks. Two thumbs up! Check it out if you're ever in Edmonton.

One last trip to West Edmonton Mall today to wrap up a few things and squeeze in some last minute PST-free shopping. I've really enjoyed my week in Edmonton - it was cold outside, but with all the sunshine its such a different feel from gray and rainy Vancouver.

Now looks like a boy!
Victor

The first hair cut for a Chinese baby is a major event in her life - my mom quotes an old superstition that a shave will give the baby nicer hair later, and hey, who am I to argue with a thousand years of tradition?

So we get her hair cut while we're in Edmonton, and its Van's mom who does it because Ann would trust only her. If you're in Edmonton and need a new look, she owns the Vanvo Salon on 107th Ave.

After everything was said and done, I have to admit it looks pretty cute in a Sinead O'Connor kind of way. Her head feels like a bristlebrush, and it makes me laugh when I rub it.

She's our very own baby Buddha :)

Gah! Bertuzzi, you bum!
CK

If you are Canadian, you were one of the collective groan that was heard coast to coast when the men's hockey team lost 2-0 to the Russians in the semi final. We could see it coming, but you kept thinking that the famous Canadian heart would raise their level of play and... well, it didn't.

So I went and drowned my sorrows the way the women do - by shopping! Not for myself though. Check out the cute pink outfit I bought at Niketown for Kiki!

Its the one thing I've picked out and bought for her without Ann's interfer... er, guidance :)

Van

I enjoy being a hockey rinkrat when I'm in Edmonton - dropping in on afternoon shinny games, rec league games, anything that Victor happens to be playing.

I wish I could skate, I would strap them on and get on out there as well. Perhaps its something to put on my To Do list.

Ann comes with me when she can, and we bring Kiera along so she can watch her uncle play - maybe she'll pick up a stick someday. I just hope she doesn't inherit her Dad's flat-footed ways :)

We need to get the next size up I think.
Victor

The last time Ann's family saw Kiera, she was just a two week old. On this trip, she is a three month old, double the size (16 lbs!) and full of personality. The timing is really good I think - they get to play and laugh with a cheerful little girl.

I don't think they can get over how big she is though!

For her hundred day present, they gave her a really amazing Burberry outfit - making her officially better dressed than her dad - and it barely just fit.

It was sized for a six month old :) So, back to the store later on this week to upgrade the size :)

Hello little Buddha baby!
Homminy (Ann's Mom)

Abbotsford Airport is great. Lots of parking, small terminal, very friendly and laid back staff.... it was a quiet flight into Edmonton. Kiera only cried for ten seconds, which was amazing. We had one stop over, two small and noisy airplanes, two diaper changes and one in-flight feeding. She even entertained some fellow travellers with some well time giggles and laughs!

Sunday was a lazy one... stayed in, played with Kiera, and just hung out. It was great to watch Ann's family play with Kiera - she just totally took to them :)

The big surprise was how little snow there was - but that changed when we got there. So I guess we brought the 'bad weather' with us!

Don't forget to pack a jacket for me this time. Please!
CK

The last time we were back in Edmonton, Ann forgot to pack me a jacket. That would suck this time round, seeing how its -40°C there this time of year. So I double checked her packing to be sure!

We're back for a week or so, returning next Sunday, so I won't get to updating the site while I'm there

Until then, stay warm, and for those of you in tropical countries - appreciate what you have :)

See you when we get back!

Happy Valentine's Day! :)

I happened to be downtown at a seminar, so had the chance to wander to Kiehl's to get Ann some of her favourite beauty products. Unfortunately, my Kiehl Kung Fu was weak that day, and I got her the wrong thing altogether.

But I got brownie points for effort!

Also, Happy 100 day birthday Kiki! She celebrated by conking out at 9:00 PM, her new regular bedtime. She still sleeps through to 8:00 AM the next day, so we're now starting to get the time to do some things.

Thank you Kiki!

I really like these spring rolls. I need this recipe.
Raina

Paegil is the Korean hundred day celebration, a major event in a Korean baby's life. The Chinese have a similar celebration at thirty days, so we merged the two into a small weekend get-together for family and friends. Her real paegil isn't until Valentine's Day (isn't that fitting?), but we're in Edmonton next weekend so this was the best time to celebrate.

There was Malaysian food, Italian cake and Korean dessert, but the highlights were the roast pig and Mom's famous spring rolls.

Thanks to everyone for coming, and special hugs to family and friends who pitched in with all their help!

I'm going to miss being so close to her...
Ann

Its a big day for Kiera. Her mom is moving out of her bedroom, leaving Kiki to sleep all by herself.... there's a little bit of anxiety, but if she holds to pattern, she's not going to budge until 8:00 AM.

Sweet dreams baby!

Seasoned veteran? Veteran... hmmm. Seasoned, definitely. I've been pee'd on, pooped, vomited...
CK

Kiera settled into a different schedule this week when she started feeding every three hours instead of two. We've been expecting it, and its a welcome change... except for that bit where she woke up at 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM for a couple of days. That one gave Ann a good scare :)

The other plus is that she's goes down at 10:00 PM, so here's the math: 10:00 PM down + 8:00 AM UP = Two Happy Parents!!!

OWWWW! MY HAIR!
Ann

So many things have been happening for our little girl this week, its hard to keep up.

She's always smiled a lot, but she's started laughing out loud. She's grabbing at her toys (and Mommy's hair!), meshing her fingers together and looking at them to see what she has done, and on her three month birthday, she decided to roll onto her back from her tummy.

"She was a bit startled," said Ann. "Really surprised, like 'Whoa! Hey! What just happened!" And to prove it wasn't an accident, she did it a few more times.

Happy 3 months Kiki - here's to many more!

Nothing in the world sounds better than the sound of your own child laughing. I could watch this video over and over again and never get tired of it...

She's been laughing like this for a few days now, especially when she's with Ann - its hard to describe just how I feel when she laughs like this.

Amazement, exhilaration... and sheer joy.

I have Pocahantas hair!
Ann

Yesterday was an interesting day.

We had a power outage, which forced me to think of the things I take for granted. No computer, no TV, no PS 2... luckily I've just upgraded to the latest model in entertainment: the Kiki 2000!

So I sat in bed with Kiki, played with her, and caught up on a couple of cookbooks I've been wanting to read.

Ann took advantage of Daddy's weekend time with a treat at the hair stylist, while Kit was dropped off at the groomer's. Well, until the groomer showed up on my doorstep with him - the windstorm had knocked out their power too!

So a quiet day, and I was glad when power finally came back on. I'll say this about gas stoves, which still work when the power is out - its another reason to get one :)

Ann

Great news!

Kiera's uncle - Ann's younger brother - proposed to his girlfriend of eight years, who said yes. They've been acting like an old married couple for at least seven of those eight, so today's news isn't really a surprise :)

No official date set, but we're looking forward to celebrating when we see them in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations, guys! And let me be the first to ask:

"So. When're you having kids?"
