What's a pinata?
Mom

Watch out world, my nephew Kohen is three years old!

And what a happy, boisterous, cheerful three year old he is! He's constantly on the go, an endless supply of energy, non-stop!

His Nemo themed birthday party was a huge hit too - his Mom and Dad invited a clown, there was a pinata full of candy (just in case the kids weren't hyperactive enough), and they had put together a Kids Menu of hot dogs, jello and party favours! It was all you would want to make it a special day for a little three year old boy and his friends.

In hindsight, I realized this party was different for me. I used to get my food, retreat to a quiet corner far far away, hang out with the 'childless couples' and single friends, and we'd all shake our heads at the non-stop-all-go frenetic energy in kids.

Not any more. Now I'm in there, right in the thick of things, making sure Kiera's OK, getting along with everyone and having fun.

It was so awesome!

So Happy Birthday Kohen - here's to many more!!!

Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Ann and I met Mari when she was dating a friend of mine; that didn't last, but our friendship with her did, and she's been back often to visit. We've come to think of her as part of the family, and chat often on webcam and MSN.

Recently, she had news of the best kind to share: her special someone proposed to her, and she said 'Yes!' So to Mari and Tetsu both,

Congratulations!!!!

Here's to love that was meant to be.

Time to put up the baby gate, I think!
Ann

For some reason she loves that remote - and off she went! This is a video of her first 'sort-of-crawling' ever - I happened to have the camera next to me and snagged the proof.

How often does that happen?

So, this is officially the start of our baby proofing... and somewhere in the distance, I think I hear my parents laughing.... :)

Easy with those... they'll make her gassy!
CK's Mom

We have two hits in a row... sweet potatoes and banana! We haven't really noticed that she.. um, farts a lot more, but its not something I've really tried to keep track of.

As she approaches seven months, we find that we spend more time with her than ever before - a lot of it is that she needs more attention, but the other is that we spend that much more playing time with her. She's so much fun to play with! Whether its peek-a-boo or bouncing to her favourite song, splashing in the tub, playing with her toys, or banging on her electronic drum.

I wish I could pause her growing up! Just leave her like this for a few more weeks...

I don't think she likes peas.
Ann

We now know that Kiki doesn't like peas - at least not in the mushy mooshed down format that its in, even if its organic and claims to be of 'best quality'. Honestly, I had a taste and I didn't like it either!

All I can say is, if Dad doesn't like it, well, the kikiBug shouldn't have to either... but Mommy's the one she's going to have to convince :)

Here's more pix of her adventures with cereal killing.

OK here's your mommy on the phone!
CK

I'm not sure what the experts say about babies recognizing their parents' voices on the phone - anyone know? - but here's Kiera on the phone with her Mommy :)

Mm-mmmm. Yum. Yummy... come on, just another bite... there we go!
Ann

Kiera's been on cereal now for a couple of weeks, and is already showing preferences. She likes it lumpy so she can mull it over, and she doesn't like the blander cereals like rice. She's eating more of it now: two tablespoons after breakfast and two tablespoons after lunch.

To our great surprise, she actually puts most of it away - we had expected much cereal to be splattered about, but the collateral wastage (to Kit's disappointment) has been very limited!

It doesn't take her long either - just a few minutes and its all down. She's definitely got the Lee appetite! We will be getting a food mill over the next couple of days - gonna start practicing making baby food of our own!

I love you!
Ann to Kiki

When Kiera was sick this week, she was so miserable! She had her Baby Dimetapp for her cough and Tylenol for fever, but there was no better medicine than... Mommy.

Mommy wiped her tears away and soothed her to sleep, made her laugh and made everything better. Even at two in the morning and though Mommy was sick, she was there at the first cry and chased the nightmares away.

When Mommy held Kiera in her arms and hugged her close, everything was just better. And Mommy would not have it any other way.

Happy Mommy's Day, Annie-poo! Kiki couldn't have a better Mom - and I love you all that much more for it.

Hmmm. Looks painful!
CK on seeing Kiki's first tooth
Its been a really hard week here at home. The three of us were really really sick, and I've had to take days off work. At least I could do that - Ann was mothering Kiki 24/7.

Thankfully, Kiera started coming out of the worst of it three days ago and was back to her old self today. She shot through 9.5oz of formula for her last feed, burped mightily and I said, 'Welcome back kiddo!'

Her milestone this week: her first tooth is showing! And its so cute... I'll try to take a picture of it but it won't be easy.

How is the lil bug doing today?
Aunty C.C.

Kiera is 6 months old today!

We're not really celebrating, since everyone - her, me, Ann, my family - is sick with a pretty bad bug. She got her 6 month shots on Tuesday, had a slight reaction to those, and added to her problems by catching a cold and teething... all at the same time.

Despite all that, she still manages to find plenty of moments to share a smile!
