a busy weekend
Sunday, April 30th, 2006
Is Benny four or five this year?
CK
Seven!
Ann
We've just enjoyed a weekend that was one long party... from a baby shower for Sandra, to a birthday party for Benny and a very welcome - and surprise! - visit from Brent.
To Sandra and Steven, - congratulations, you're about to have the time of your lives!
To Benny - Happy Birthday! It really does seem like yesterday when your Dad phoned me with the news.
Lastly but not least to Brent and Meghan - congrats on the engagement! We hope to see much more of you now that you're in town often. |

the papasan chair
Saturday, April 29th, 2006
Hello my future Miss Port Coquitlam!
Mom
We have a dearly-loved papasan chair in our bedroom, sitting in the corner that we call our 'library'. Its just big enough that you can curl in it and nap, or enjoy a good book, or savour a cup of roiboos.
We also found out its great for kikiPix™! :)
Don't you wish you could bottle up that smile? Its the perfect thing to chase away your rainy day... |

kiki dress-up
Friday, April 28th, 2006
I never thought I'd enjoy dressing up Kiki, but its been fun - from hats to bibs to matching socks, taking it all in stride is one of the things that makes parenting fun.
This particular hat is from my sister, who got it because "she wanted to". Shopping for babies is fun! I think most people give them things that they secretly wish they could wear themselves :)
Kiera's going to be six months old next week, which means her six-month shots are coming up. She got through the others fine, but I worry anyways... I'll be glad when the last of these vaccination shots are over! |

sniffles
Monday, April 24th, 2006
I don't think you're supposed to suck snot out of her nose.
Ann
Kiera's finally getting over the cold she's had all week - her first sniffles ever! In a way she was really cute, but I'm sure she's glad that her plugged nose has gone away. It also made her last bottle feeding quite a bit harder.
For a first case of sniffles though, it was about as mild as you could get - I'm thankful it wasn't the flu or something really awful. The first of many, I'm sure....! |

triplets
Sunday, April 23rd, 2006
Can you imagine if we really had triplets?
Ann
Er, no.
CK
The technical wizardry here isn't all that impressive - the really amazing part was getting her to laugh and giggle through the 10 minutes it took to snap all the shots necessary... including "costume changes".
Made for a fun-filled Sunday afternoon :) |

raspberries
Wednesday, April 19th, 2006
pfffffft! PFFFFFFT! SPLFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!
Kiki
We watch in amazement as she purses her lips, twists them into knots, blows bubbles, and turn red before finally managing to let one loose.
PFFFFFFFFFFT!
"Woohooo!" says Ann. "Nice raspberry!"
I doubt Ann will do the same thing when Kiki starts swearing, but she's just so darned cute. Although I have to admit, it does get tiresome after a while. There's only so much drool and spittage I can take. |

The planning is going well! We found our MC!
Pam
Excellent! Who?!
CK
It was me. But I'm honoured, and it'll be a priviledge to be the MC at their wedding. I don't think I ever posted a congrats to them, so here it is, belated but better late than never. |

an outbreak of Kiki
Saturday, April 15th, 2006
Hello Princess! I have a present for you!
Carol
Oh boy. That can't be good for my tummy.
CK
Over the Easter weekend, the Kiki roadshow rumbled into Burnaby Hospital, parents and all - we were last there in January, when Kiera was only 3 months old. Ann was missing her old work buddies, so she packed us all up and we rolled on in for a visit.
We hung out for a while, and Kiki was passed around for cuddles and hugs. She was in a good mood and was pretty cheerful, and everyone seemed to enjoy the visit.
We also spent some time with Aunty Carol, who loaded us up with Easter kikiGifts before letting us get away :)
Thanks everyone! Ann misses all of you at work. She'll see you all in October!!! |

the high throne
Saturday, April 15th, 2006
Hmm. I think its right side up. Or upside down. I'm not really sure.
CK, assembling the high chair
We got a new toy for Kiera today - a high chair, and she loves it! We think its because of her new vantage point - all of a sudden, she's a lot higher up. Whatever the reason, she's happy to sit and play in it.
Strangely, I found myself feeling a bit wistful that she can now sit in a high chair. My little girl's not so little anymore, and it didn't take very long at all. Today: a high chair. Tomorrow, my car... |

playdates
Thursday, April 13th, 2006
Its just nice to get out now and then.
Ann
Its fun watching how your baby plays with others. Ann brings Kiki out on playdates with her sister-in-law and a friend, and while the Mom's sit, visit and squeeze in some social time, the kids manage to keep themselves busy.
It keeps the Moms sane, and the kids figure out how to play nice - everybody wins :)

happy birthday CW!
Sunday, April 9th, 2006
Milk tastes much better with Bailey's in it.
CW
My brother's birthday isn't until the 13th (which means we get to celebrate some cool Friday 13th birthdays) but for one reason or another we decided to have it out this weekend. So we were over for dinner and cake, and came away bursting at the seams. They always throw a good party!
So Happy Birthday Wee, here's to many more. |

sunny side up
Sunday, April 9th, 2006
Look who's got a chumbly bum bum!
Ann
If you've followed The Adventures of Kiki, you know how she used to hate tummy time. Ann and I were thinking just today that she's always on her tummy now. She even sleeps through the night on it.
I used to sneak into her room and quietly turn her over, but before I can leave the room, she's flipped right back over.
So we've given up: she gets to lie on whatever side she prefers.
