I know we are, we are the lucky ones...

Life with Kiki has settled into a comfortable routine.

She's still asleep when I leave for work, so I steal out quietly, and call home at 9 or so to see what time she woke up. I'll get home around 4:30, and she's usually up from her afternoon nap. If she is, she'll come to the baby gate at the top of the stairs, wave and wait for me to carry her.

That's when I switch from my day job to my evening one - being Daddy to the cutest little girl in the world. With a smile like that, who'd ever mind?

Life needs to come with a rule book, or at least some kind of traveller's guide.

Ann decided that Today was The Day for Kiki to start feeding herself.

The first victim of choice? Yogurt. Blueberry organic yogurt, Mediterranean style, say hello to the walls, floors, counters and oh yeah, there's some still on Kit I think.

All things considering she did quite well - she seemed to enjoy herself :)

I made a baby bun for her last time, but your Dad went and ate it! Greedy old man!
Mom

My Mom gets these moods when she starts making steamed buns, and doesn't stop until her kitchen counters are full of them. She also makes baked buns and dumplings are another passion of hers, but the steamed ones have a special place in her heart... and our stomachs.

Check out the little bun Mom made for Kiki!

Mom always tells us that there is no secret ingredient - just hard work, patience and passion. There's probably a lesson in there somewhere, but all I think about when I eat them is yummmmmm.....

Make sure you let Aunty Sam know how much Kiki enjoys her shortbread!

January is off to a bit of a slow start... this year's edition of the post-holiday blues are really laying the blows down low. It was a four day work week to start things off, but some times it felt twice as long.

We also had some pretty bad weather - more snow, more wind, we lost power again (but it was back in an hour). BC Place Stadium even lost its roof! A piece tore off in the wind and they were forced to deflate the rest before it blew away.

Despite all the blahs, our cure is Kiki! Its so nice to come home to a happy little girl who cheers you up. She's so full of play and has so much energy that its infectious... she's my own little ray of sunshine :)
